Farm Update – March 2020
Dear Farm Family, Supporters, and Friends,
We wanted to take a moment to reach out to the wonderful community that has grown around our farm and share some thoughts and updates. Despite the craziness going on with COVID-19, we are plowing forward, planting our seeds and growing your food. Our goal with Quackenbush Farm is to provide our communities with healthy, nourishing food and to build a resilient local food system. We can’t think of a more important time to double down on that mission and help folks support their immune systems (and soul) with nutrient dense, organic food. We will be implementing some additional precautions on top of our existing food safety plan, but generally speaking, as long as we are legally able to, we will be distributing our veggies to you.
We are very concerned about the future of our markets this year. We want to make sure that the seeds we are planting now will become food on your dinner table, not our compost pile. Currently, we depend on over 90% of our business from our farmers market customers. Currently, some of our markets are open and others are temporarily closed. You can imagine our anxiety around the uncertainty. Now more than ever we need your support.
This season, we’re bringing our “CSA” back as a special for folks that can’t make it to our farmers markets, or in case they remain closed for the summer. We’re calling it our Quarantine Cuisine Kit. Or you can just call it the 2020 Farm Share.
We will keep everyone updated via email, social media, and our website. Expect lots of veggie photos, little Edwin, the goats, and farm life!
